Christantus Uche Ignites Comfortable Crystal Palace Win at Shelbourne.
Despite embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles left Dublin with a commanding result that all but guarantees them a place in the Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This match offered a chance for several Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.
Dominance Asserted from the Outset
In spite of torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a simple finish.
Midfielder Adam Wharton went close soon after, driving a powerful shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee dismissed the appeals.

The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
The youngster was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.
A solitary concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect night for the traveling side.
